Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes-- "La Biblioteca de las culturas hispánicas." Major virtual library of Spanish-language classic works of literature available free online, with commentary and analysis of the authors and their works, supported by many Spanish and foreign entities. Also has a collection of links to academic centers, digitalization projects, libraries, publishers, and bookstores, especially of the Spanish-speaking world, and more.

Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish-- From the Annenberg Learner Series, "This video instructional series for high school classrooms and adult learners teaches Spanish speaking and listening skills." 52 half-hour video programs.


E-Spanish-- This free educational site includes online grammar tests, interactive vocabulary practice, games, song lyrics, audio with transcripts, a database of several hundred Spanish-language web links, and more.

El Castellano: La Página del Idioma Español-- Interesting notes on Spanish language usage and role in world, plus links to Spanish dictionaries, culture sites, radio stations, periodicals, search engines.


El Libro Total-- From Fundación El Libro Total, a library of thousands of free digitized books in Spanish, from many historical periods, many with audio to listen as the corresponding text is highlighted.

Elementary Spanish I Course-- From the Open Learning Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University, free online course that "is media-rich and interactive, driven by video that was shot on-site in Guadalajara, Mexico."

Fluent in Spanish-- From a teacher of Spanish who is from Spain, articles, videos, and side-by-side bilingual podcasts, "to help Spanish learners fill in the gaps and get to a fluent level faster."


Health Care Spanish-- Provides many useful phrases and general medical vocabulary in Spanish for health care professionals.

Lawless Spanish-- Free site for students and teachers of Spanish, with lessons, quizzes, listening and reading comprehension exercises, study tips, and lots more.


Learn a Language: Spanish-- From Visual Link Languages, "created by the U.S. Institute of Languages... to help people bridge communication gaps and to give back to the world in which we live." Includes vocabulary, phrases, dictionary, cultural notes, blog, and forum.

Learning and Teaching Spanish-- From ThoughtCo, a "comprehensive Spanish language guide to improve reading, writing, and comprehension skills for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels."

Lexico Spanish-- From Dictionary.com and Oxford University Press, provides dictionaries, translation facilities, and grammar, culture, writing, and learning tips.

Medical Spanish-- Commercial site with a lot of free material and audio, including basic and medical vocabularies, medical dictionary, anatomical illustrations, patient teaching aids, and cultural aspects.

Medical Spanish for Health Care Providers-- "This site is presented as a free medical Spanish immersion, with vocabulary including greetings, history, examination, and everyday speech, all with translation and audio. It is designed to be helpful for a variety of medical personnel."

Radio Ambulante-- "Narrative podcast that tells uniquely Latin American stories in Spanish. We aim to bring the quality of longform print journalism to the radio. Real Academia Española-- Website of the Academy that sets standards for the Spanish language, featuring an authoritative online dictionary; orthographic, usage and verb conjugation guidelines; and an online service for linguistic consultations.

SpanishDict-- "World’s largest Spanish-English dictionary, translation, and language learning website. We develop and provide reliable, accurate, easy-to-use resources for learning Spanish." Note the translation facility and the Spanish verb conjugator.


Spanish Numbers Guide-- Helpful tips to make Spanish numbers easy to learn and use correctly, following the latest recommendations of the RAE and other Hispanic academies, with online quizzes, charts, and an interactive "Number Translator."


Spanish Proverbs and Sayings, with Their English Equivalents-- Three hundred idiomatic proverbs and sayings, compiled by Berta Alicia Chen and posted by the University of California, Los Angeles.
